                                              Kids for Kids

It was Monday the 14th of November which was the day we get our voices ready and dress our best for Kids for Kids. Kids for Kids is a really exciting and fun event. The part of our class that was doing Kids for Kids had to come to school before 8:00 or else we would miss our ride. Luckily most of us made it get our ride, Mrs. Dines our teacher called out the role for the students that were coming, unfortunately, two people wasn’t to come early.

There were two shuttles/mini vans one for girls and the other for boys. We didn’t really want to go in the white van because the maroon looking van looked more modern, fortunately, the man had told us to hop in the maroon shuttle. It was so comfortable in the van and felt way better than the white, but then it was getting hot and there were no windows only the two for the passenger and the driver. Our windows were tinted though so if we fell off to sleep no one would see us. Instead of using the shortcut on our way there for practice the driver didn’t know and took a long way, it felt like we were going to get there and it would be finished. Finally, we arrived and the boys kept on saying “You took for ages”, “We know” we replied. We walked in and luckily, we were still having to wait for one more school. A lady had come up onto the stage and introduced herself, her name was Dana she told us of how she had found out about Kids for Kids. Later on, she was calling out all the school’s names, once she called out our name we raised our hands to show that we were there. Walking up the stairs was kind of scary because of how broken it was, and it was crowded. We got in our places pulled our chairs out and had gotten ready for Jackie and Nathan to come out. Jackie and Nathan finally made it onto the stage and we started clapping since they were the main people.

It was really fun because they taught us all sorts of moves to go with the song we would sing, my favorite for the moves and singing was ‘Rain’. As soon as practice ended we hopped into the shuttles and went back to school. When school had finally finished I quickly walked back to my nana’s house and changed into my clothes for the actual Kids for Kids. The people who were going to Kids for Kids had to have a big snack because we wouldn’t be able to eat while we were there because we were just going to sing. As the time flew by it hit five o'clock and my aunt drove me back to school so we could go to the Kids for Kids from there. She had dropped me off near the classroom, I started to walk along room 8 and 7 and I had seen Lasike and his cousin Patelesio. For some reason as soon as I saw them I started to run to the office, fortunately, Mrs. Dines was just walking to the office I had caught up to her and we walked in the office. I entered room 2 and there was no one but Sister. Evalesi, I walked around in the room and had seen Lasike and Patelesio outside on the park I tried to get their attention to say that they had to come inside, they didn’t see me so I was going to go outside to tell them to come inside but I wasn’t allowed to because we had to keep the door locked. Everyone had eventually entered the room so as we were all sitting down she had called out the role for the people who were supposed to be there to go, fortunately, everyone was here. We had all rushed outside because of how excited we were, luckily we had the same maroon shuttle/minivan but the white might have been in use because instead there was an old white shuttle/minivan, still we were grateful that we still had a ride to get to Kids for Kids. The girls went in the maroon shuttle/minivan and the boys had gone to the white.

This time we had a different driver we didn’t ask for his name but we knew that he was different, on our way there it was actually shorter than before of how we were going there for practice. We had finally arrived and we all stretched out, unfortunately, we came in too early and the doors were closed, we weren’t allowed in until most of the other schools had come. So instead of just standing around we decided to play the mannequin challenge until we got bored, so we just went on with playing banana split and ninja. Just as we were in our last game, we didn’t notice that the schools were surrounding us. The doors finally opened and as we walked in it had already gotten stuffy in the air. Before entering the actual hall that we would be singing in, we had to do a little warm up first. There was a man who had introduced himself, I've forgotten his name but he shouted each of our school's names if we were here and we had to shout back “YES! After running out of breath from shouting all the time, the staff had finally told us to enter. Once we were in, there were a lot of people but the Year 8’s were used to it because we had experienced it before. They called out every single school that was here and organized us of where we were sitting, the last time we had sat on the seats we were right at the top, but this time we sat nearly at the bottom. The very first thing we did after we sat down was to wait for Jackie and Nathan to come out and introduce themselves and us. They weren’t teaching us the moves for the songs anymore obviously because we had to remember the moves which they taught us during practice. I didn’t really remember the moves myself, but instead of doing nothing I just decided to moderately look around to see what the other people were doing. Finishing up in the first half of singing we went back stage, but it was just the schools allowed backstage and the audience including family had to stay sitting down.

I had a quick drink and started playing hand games until we go back in to sing the other half. The song that we sang when we came back was ‘I Love My Feet’, the audience started bursting with laughter as Jackie was walking with fake humongous feet on her, feet. As we were singing it came onto the last ‘Say Goodbye’ which also happened to be my other favorite song. I didn’t really want to leave when we singing and also walking away, it was actually fun. On our way back to school and we all fell off to sleep. As the van stopped I opened the door and saw my dad talking to my friend’s family as he waited. I walked towards him and saw my mum in the car. I think she asked me a question if it was fun, but I was kind half asleep so I couldn’t really remember. To me, I know that this was a most fun event out of all that has happened at school because the friends that came will be the friends I will remember.
